Quartz IP ships PracticeLink 2.5: mail that splits at capture, a History tab on every workflow, and the whole client picture. Read the news.

ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt., July 30, 2026 – Quartz IP today announced the release of PracticeLink 2.5, the newest version of its IP operations platform for patent and trademark law firms. The release centers on the highest-volume task in an IP practice, processing incoming correspondence, and adds a document-level audit trail and a fuller client picture to the platform.
Key updates in the release include three new capabilities.
Correspondence Intake changes how incoming mail becomes work. PDFs split at capture, so one email with many attachments becomes separate document packages, each profiled and classified once and routed independently. Docketing teams receive one clean work item instead of five, with no manual splitting and no duplicate tasks stacking up behind a single message.
Workflow History adds a History tab to every workflow: who touched a document, when, where it started, and what's still expected downstream. Teams answer "where did that document go?" from one tab instead of reconstructing the trail across systems.
Client Management brings client-level documents into the client record. Guidelines, contracts, pricing, and pre-matter documents live in one place, linked to the firm's document management system, with finer-grained reporting rules by document class and category. Work that doesn't yet have a matter number gets a home and keeps moving.
Those three lead a wider set of updates across the release: more consistent auto-profiling at capture, client-reporting rules that can now be set by document category, improved document search and display, updates to the USPTO Patent Center integration following recent USPTO-side changes, and security and infrastructure hardening throughout the platform.

PracticeLink complements the docketing and document management systems a firm already runs. There is no migration; firms integrate PracticeLink alongside their existing tools. Quartz IP clients, who include five of the top ten US patent filing firms, move more than 700,000 documents a year through the platform.
PracticeLink 2.5 is generally available now, and current clients can work with the Quartz IP team on upgrade timing. Quartz IP will demonstrate the release in two public webinar sessions: Thursday, August 20 at 10:00 a.m. ET and Wednesday, August 26 at 2:00 p.m. ET. Registration is open now.
